Can be SMOOTH AS BUTTAH for you... if you do your homework.

I read all the reviews for the various versions of the InstallCard.... some customer experiences good, most really bad. I had to say I was skeptical. I based the decision to go forward due to the money I was saving by not going to BestBuy (they wanted to charge WAY more). I don't dispute the people who had bad experiences, I'm only saying that mine went as smooth as could possibly be. Website says choose date 3 business days out, so I did. On the third day I called to check the status. They said they left a message for a shop but hadn't gotten a callback yet.POSSIBLE NUDGE: She couldn't give the name of the shop, but gave the street and zip code, so I was able to find them on google. I then called them myself to ask if they took the InstallCard. Turns out while I was talking to one guy, another guy was on the other phone talking to the rep from InstallCard, which proved she was staying on top of my order and was trying to get everything worked out as fast as possible. Once both guys realized they were talking to us about the same customer (me), they confirmed everything. He had an immediate opening, so I hung up and drove down.<<>> I spoke to several companies about all the "hidden" items that I might need to avoid "extra charges". For my vehicle, I needed:1. Radio (duh)2. InstallCard (double duh)3. Dash Kit (my vehicle has a unique dash with the radio custom designed, so there was no getting around that)4. Wiring Harness5. iPod Cable (wasn't included with my radio and had to buy separately)Because I priced these all separately through Amazon, the entire package ended up saving me $200 over BestBuy, and about $140 over Crutchfield. Each of these pieces were WAY cheaper (and just as good quality) when buying on Amazon. Some of these were the exact same brands that I would have been overcharged by going through BestBuy.Install was a smooth as could be. I was putting in a double-din video radio with Bluetooth (no navigation, no rear camera). I walked in the shop, handed him everything, and an hour later, drove off. No hidden fees, no extra charges, NOTHING. All I did was hand them the InstallCard, and sign a couple of papers. The guys at the shop I went to were the nicest and most helpful people. I thought maybe these companies didn't like accepting the InstallCard because maybe it affected their profit or something. I'll never know because it was the most pleasant experience I've ever had putting in a stereo.Maybe through the prior complaints, InstallCard has changed the way they do business, maybe I just got lucky with a good shop, I don't know, but gotta give it 5 stars, because it went FLAWLESS for me.YOU WILL SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE BY RESEARCHING WHAT YOUR VEHICLE NEEDS BEFORE GOING TO A SHOP. IT'S VERY RARE THAT YOU GET TO JUST "SWAP" OUT ONE RADIO FOR ANOTHER. The parts I had to get were common for countless stereos and vehicles. Saving $200 on an awesome stereo that sounds FANTASTIC in my vehicle? PRICELESS.
